The University of Buea, Cameroon, is organizing the Third International Conference Series on the Mathematical Sciences April 30 - May 3, 2013. The conference aims at bringing together academicians and professionals with diverse backgrounds, yet bound together by cross-disciplinary interest s related to Mathematical Sciences, to demonstrate the vital role that mathematics plays in their various areas of professional research and society in general, and to bridge as well as nurture understanding and collaboration between global and African regional mathematical scientists and practitioners. The Buea Conference is the meeting crossroads of African, Diasporas and International Mathematical Science communities. The Third conference, which will accommodate a broad variety of presentations, including a worksop on Operations Research, is scheduled to coincide with the second week of a two-week International Summer School on Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Science, also holding at Buea. Amongst many speakers, the Summer School will include lectures, guided practice and problem solving tasks for small groups on the following topics: 1. Introduction to stochastic analysis 2. Introduction to risk and insurance: technical and financial features of risk transfers 3. Introduction to life insurance mathematics 4. Mortality trends, mortality projections and longevity risk 5.
