Kano State Government Offers Scholarship To 100 Students
The Kano State Government has really done something worth Thanking And Praising God for.
The Kano State Government has offered automatic scholarship to 100 indigent students, these 100 students who were been offered the scholarship have already secure admission into Crescent University, Abeokuta in Ogun.
Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso shared this News, during a send-off party which was organised for the students by the State Government at the Government House, in Kano State.
Governor Kwankwaso also said that the State Government would spend N56 million annuallyto sponsor the students who had secured admission into the university for the 2012/2013 academic session.
According to the Governor, he said that the State Government will spend N560, 000 on each of the students every Year.
The Governor also said his administration would continue to pay serious attention to education for her citizens to earn university degrees, plus his government will help the Kano state citizens to be exposed, and Indigenes will be capable of fitting into the Nigeria of today, tomorrow and beyond.
According to him, since Kano state is the mostpopulous state in Nigeria, his government have to create opportunities for her people to acquire education.
The Governor also said that his Government will launch Kano State further into the league of progressive states.
The Governor also stressed that, if the state did not pay attention to education, the childrenwill continue to roam the streets as beggars.
The Governor had therefore, challenged Kano citizens not to wait in embracing education so that the growth and development of the state would speed up.
The Governor also said that another set of 100students would soon be awarded scholarships to study courses of their choice at Bells University, also in Abeokuta.
He said that these students will be fully sponsored by the government to ensure that their studies do not go into a hitch.
He also advised them not to misuse the opportunity by engaging in acts capable of soiling their individual images and that of the state.
According to him ”While we shall continue to sponsor students, all we require is for you to be our good ambassadors.
You must behave well as good citizens of Kano state.”
Some of the students who spoke on behalf of their colleagues thanked the State Government for the kind gesture and promise to do their best in Being good Ambassadors of the State.
