NOA designates University of Ibadan as Centre for patriotism

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has named the University of Ibadan as its official centre to teach courses on patriotism, ethics and values. Mr Mike Omeri, the Director General of the agency stated this in a statement made available to the News agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja. The D-G said: ``It became necessary since the university was a factory of knowledge interested in transforming the content of the knowledgebase of Nigerians toward positive attitudinal orientation.’’ He said that the goal of the ``campus focus’s`` programme of the NOA was to raise the awareness of young undergraduates as role models for fellow youths. According to him, the agency is proud to partner with the University of Ibadan because the institution has been engaged in doing the right thing through its Department of Social Orientation. Omeri tasked Nigerian students to take on a new orientation of putting the nation first as an example to other Nigerians. He said that the proposed centre on patriotism, ethics and values was in line with the agency’s doing ``the right thing campaign’’ launched few months ago. Source: (NAN)
